About The University of Chicago in Chicago, IL
The University of Chicago was founded in 1890 by the American Baptist Education Society. Since then the school has been affiliated with a number of Nobel Prize laureates and Rhodes Scholars. The University of Chicago is actually home to the largest university press in the U.S. and continues to lead several sectors of research.
The University of Chicago conducts a large amount of scientific research, reporting costs in the millions for such research, and is in fact known for their leading efforts. The school was actually the site of the first self-sustained man-made nuclear reaction – Chicago Pile-1 of the Manhattan Project.
Students enjoy the yearly University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt competition in which they are tasked to find obscure items from a list. The university’s main campus is situated roughly 7 miles south of downtown Chicago in the Hyde Park and Woodlawn region of the city.
